Dental Implants at Sunbury, Gisborne & Diggers Rest

Dental implants are an innovative and natural-looking way to replace missing teeth. They are superior to bridges and dentures because they don’t move or fall out, and topped with a crown that is made to fit right in with your natural teeth. And best of all, 3D technology helps reduce the time you spend in the chair while it helps us perfect the implant and the procedure used to place it.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Because dental implants are secured into your mouth, they look and feel more like your real teeth. But there are more benefits than aesthetics.

Dental implants preserve your natural bone and can even stimulate bone growth
The titanium used to secure dental implants is one of the rare materials that is biocompatible with human bone, and actually fuses with the bone so your dental implant is strong and secure
Your self-esteem will improve knowing you have improved your smile with natural-looking dental crowns
Many people find their speech improves, as gaps from missing teeth are filled in, and there is no slipping like dentures
Once healed, dental implants are more comfortable than dentures, bridges or missing teeth
Your jawbone and cheeks will maintain their shape, helping you avoid some of the undesired features that may come with missing or damaged teeth
Oral health improves as surrounding teeth and gums remain supported and intact
Dental implants are more convenient because you don’t have to take them out to clean them like dentures

Types of Dental Implants

Am I a Candidate for a Dental Implant?

Our caring team of professionals strive to give you the satisfaction you deserve. That’s why our first goal is to save your teeth, if possible, and work with you on financing. So, if you have a tooth that is very damaged or diseased, it may need to be removed, and if this is the case, then a dental implant may be an option for you. Your dentist will do a full examination and evaluation to determine how we can best serve you, and then discuss all options with you. We understand that everyone wants to look and feel their best, but there are some cases where a dental implant might not be right:

Diseased or receding gums
Loss or deformity of the jawbone
Excess bacteria or plaque buildup on surrounding teeth
Previously failed implants
Severe osteoporosis
Heavy smoking habit

If any of these pertains to you, talk to your dentist to learn your options. In some cases, we may be able to help you get the dental implants Sunbury people trust. For example, if you have gum disease or excess bacteria, we may be able to help you clean and clear your teeth to prepare for the procedure. Our compassionate team will do their best to find a solution that is right for you.

3D Technology for the Best Care

We utilise the latest in technology to ensure we provide you with the best, up-to-date procedures available. We begin with 3D x-rays that show us a 3D version of your teeth, which comes with many benefits including:

Less radiation exposure due to better equipment

Increased diagnostic accuracy for a personalised diagnosis and comfort

Best imagery with multiple views, allowing us to identify any problems before they get worse

We also use computer-guided implant surgery and 3D cone beam scans that show us an accurate impression of your mouth. We have the ability to determine the angle of the implant and the perfect size and exact placement of the implant before the surgery. When you come in for the implant, you have peace of mind knowing that your implant and surgery have been planned out several times, so the procedure will be quicker and easier. And better tech means that your recovery will be quicker as fewer complications arise.

How Long Will My Dental Implants Last?

Dental implants become a part of your mouth and the crowns are very much like your teeth. Just like your natural teeth, they are prone to a buildup of bacteria. In addition, your entire mouth is still subject to disease and other problems, so taking care of all your teeth is important.
Proper brushing, flossing and rinsing can help ward off disease and receding gums. Regular dental checkups can help catch problems before they arise. And watching your diet by limiting sugar, bottled juices and soft drinks can help your gums remain healthy. All of these factors contribute to the overall health of your teeth, gums and bone and each is important for your dental implant to last as long as possible. And with proper hygiene and the right care, a dental implant can last up to 25 years!
