What Is a Smile Makeover?
One of our long-time patients told me he was interested in a smile makeover, and wanted to know more about his options.
A smile makeover involves a combination of teeth whitening, dental veneers and crowns to enhance one’s smile. Often, 8 to 10 dental veneers are placed across the top teeth which are shown in your smile line.
Dental veneers are usually made from porcelain and often used to repair or upgrade a smile. They can quickly repair teeth that are chipped or cracked, mask discoloured teeth or straighten teeth that are mildly crooked, as well as helping make all your front teeth uniform.
Veneers are a shell like covering which are bonded or glued to fit onto the front of a tooth, much like a contact lens fits on an eye. They can be made of porcelain or a resin-composite material and the dentist will match the shade to fit in with the rest of your teeth.
Smile makeovers aim to give the appearance of a seamless row of teeth, mask gappy teeth, enhance the shade of teeth, and cover and protect cracked, chipped and worn teeth.
