CEREC Same-Day Crown at Sunbury, Gisborne, & Diggers Rest
Considering a CEREC same day crown in Sunbury? At Sunbury Dental House, our gentle, experienced team provides comprehensive care using established CEREC technology to help restore damaged teeth with personalised same-day treatment.
When Your Tooth Needs Immediate Restoration
A severely damaged, cracked, or extensively decayed tooth can cause significant discomfort and affect your ability to eat and speak comfortably. At Sunbury Dental House, we understand the urgency of these situations and have extensive experience helping Melbourne families explore immediate restoration options like CEREC same day crowns, which may help restore both function and appearance when suitable for damaged teeth requiring crown treatment.
Understanding CEREC Same-Day Crowns
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is an established dental technology designed to create and place ceramic crowns in a single appointment. Unlike traditional crown procedures that require multiple visits with temporary crowns and laboratory fabrication, CEREC uses computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology to mill a custom crown from a ceramic block whilst you wait. This treatment approach is commonly recommended for teeth requiring crown restoration due to extensive decay, fracture, or after root canal treatment.
The CEREC system digitally scans your prepared tooth, designs the same day crown using computer software, and mills the restoration from high-quality ceramic material within approximately 60-90 minutes. This approach aims to restore tooth function and appearance in a single visit whilst potentially eliminating the need for temporary crowns and multiple appointments, though suitability depends on individual case complexity and tooth location.
Could a CEREC Same-Day Crown Be Right for You?
At Sunbury Dental House, we believe every patient deserves individual attention. CEREC same-day crowns may be suitable following our gentle, comprehensive assessment process, though each case requires careful evaluation of tooth condition and restoration requirements.
Your Gentle CEREC Crown Journey
Whilst treatment success depends on individual tooth condition and complexity, here's what you can typically expect:

Your Comprehensive Assessment
Our gentle team conducts thorough examination including digital imaging to evaluate tooth condition, determine restoration requirements, and assess CEREC suitability. (Initial portion of single visit, approximately 30-45 minutes)

Gentle Tooth Preparation
The damaged portions of your tooth are carefully removed and the tooth is shaped to receive the crown, using local anaesthesia for your comfort. (Same visit, approximately 30-45 minutes)

Digital Impression & Design
Your prepared tooth is digitally scanned, and our CEREC software designs your custom crown to match your natural tooth colour and shape. (Same visit, approximately 15-20 minutes)

Crown Milling Process
Your crown is precisely milled from a ceramic block using our in-house CEREC milling machine whilst you wait comfortably in our surgery. (Same visit, approximately 60-90 minutes)

Crown Fitting & Adjustment
Your new crown is tried in, adjusted for proper fit and bite, and polished to achieve optimal comfort and appearance. (Same visit, approximately 30-45 minutes)

Final Placement & Instructions
Your CEREC crown is permanently bonded in place, and we provide care instructions for maintaining your restoration. (Same visit, final 15-30 minutes)
Risks & Recovery
CEREC crowns are designed and placed on the same day, but as with any restorative procedure, there are risks and recovery considerations.
Possible risks include:
- Temporary tooth sensitivity after crown placement
- Minor gum irritation around the treated tooth
- Risk of crown fracture or loosening under heavy biting forces
- In rare cases, further treatment such as root canal therapy may be needed if the tooth is compromised
Recovery considerations:
- Many patients return to normal activities immediately
- Sensitivity usually settles within a few days
- Avoiding very hard foods initially can help protect the new crown
- Regular dental reviews help ensure long-term success of the restoration

Invest in Your Oral Health
Any questions?

How long do CEREC same-day crowns last?
Whilst CEREC crowns are designed as a long-term restoration, their longevity depends on various factors including oral hygiene, bite forces, and individual wear patterns. We cannot guarantee specific timeframes, but proper care and regular check-ups support optimal crown longevity.
Are same-day crowns as good as laboratory-made crowns?
CEREC crowns offer the advantage of immediate placement and use high-quality ceramic materials. However, some complex cases may still benefit from laboratory fabrication. We’ll assess your individual situation and recommend the most appropriate option during consultation.
Will my CEREC crown look natural?
CEREC crowns are designed to match your natural tooth colour and shape using digital technology. Whilst the colour-matching is generally excellent, individual aesthetic outcomes may vary, and we’ll discuss realistic expectations during your assessment.
