Dentures and Partials at Sunbury, Gisborne & Diggers Rest
When patients need a reliable and affordable way to replace multiple missing teeth, complete dentures or partial dentures may provide a solution. At Sunbury Dental House, we custom design dentures to achieve a good fit and attractive results as well as restore our patients’ smiles after tooth loss or extractions.
Complete Dentures for Edentulous Patients
For patients who are edentulous, or missing all of their teeth on their upper or lower jaw, missing teeth limit the types of foods patients can eat and may cause feelings of self-consciousness about the appearance of their smiles. Facial sagging is another condition that patients suffer from when they lose teeth.
Full dentures provide an option that may improve diet variety and the appearance of the facial structure.
Unlike old-fashioned dentures, today’s dentures use lightweight, high-quality materials that have a natural appearance. We can choose denture teeth that look natural. Shape, colour and tooth length all play a role in the appearance of the final denture.
Complete dentures are typically made of pink resin and artificial denture teeth. Because of changes in bone structure over time, a professional reline or periodic replacement of dentures may be necessary to ensure proper fit and function.
Four or more dental implants can anchor dentures in place, adding stability in day-to-day use. They will remain in place until you release them for cleaning.
Partial Dentures to Complete Your Smile
When patients retain some of their natural teeth, a partial denture can complete their smiles. The appliance is held in place by small clasps that attach to natural teeth. Completing smiles with a partial denture can allow greater chewing function and a more uniform appearance.
We design partial dentures to match surrounding natural teeth so they blend in well. Partial dentures are often made from acrylic, metal or flexible base options. Maintaining the health of natural teeth and gums is essential to proper function and longevity of partial dentures.
Caring for Dentures
Dentures require special care and cleaning.
Complete Denture Care
Full dentures should never dry out. When removing them at night, keep them in water or an approved denture cleanser. Be careful not to drop them in the sink or on the floor, as they can become damaged.
Avoid exposing dentures to heat because they can distort. Don’t boil them or leave them in a hot car.
Use only denture cleanser and an approved denture brush to clean them.
Partial Denture Care
Partial dentures may require an occasional adjustment to maintain a good fit since the wires can bend out of shape. We can adjust them, as necessary.
Be sure to bring partial or complete dentures to each dental exam so we can evaluate them for damage and make sure they still function properly. Keeping them clean will help eliminate tartar and unwanted odours.
You Don’t Have to Settle for Missing Teeth
We offer a number of options at Sunbury Dental House to meet the needs of our patients. We are happy to arrange a dental exam and discuss all the options available to you.
The Restoration Process
- Our Sunbury dentists will create a custom made mould of how your dentures will sit and look in your mouth.
- Once your mould is created, you can try it on and determine its appearance, shape and colour prior to making the final cast.
- Then your dentures are made and ready to be worn.
