Who is Doing Your Dental Implant?
Got a missing tooth or some missing teeth, and looking for the right specialist to perform the procedure? In this 10 part: Interview Questions for Your New Dentist series, we will go through questions you should be asking your new dentist before going ahead with them.
In today’s video, we will go through the question: Who is doing your dental implant?
Since dental implants involve the removal of a tooth and replacing it with an artificial tooth, many patients assume that only an oral surgeon is qualified to do it. This can be a flawed assumption.
Periodontists, who specialise in gum disease, maybe a better option. Periodontists have special training in the gum tissue and underlying bone in the mouth, which are significantly important in dental implants.
Whether you use your general dentist, a periodontist or an oral surgeon, you should ask these questions:
What is your success rate with implants?
How long is the procedure?
Do you use a digital surgical guide?
Do you use a CBCT scan and 3-D imaging software?
This technology assesses the bone structure and identifies the best sites for dental implant placement while avoiding vital structures like nerves and blood vessels.
Many dentists hold themselves out as implant specialists. You need to interview them very thoroughly before entrusting them with this surgical procedure.
Here at Dental House Group, we believe we have all the up to date technology such as CBCT, 3D scanning and surgical planning software to ensure your implant surgery is as smooth, as accurate, and with minimal discomfort as possible. Our dentist has been trained by some of the best dental implant institutions around the world, they’ve been awarded Master clinicians from the giDe institute of Loma Linda University in Los Angeles, and they’re also part of the International Congress of Oral implantologists.
